5 Reasons to Visit Madikwe Game Reserve
Madikwe Game Reserve is situated in the North-West Province of South Africa. It has become one of the most prestigious game reserves in the country, stretching over 680 square kilometres of reclaimed farmland. If you’re planning on visiting South Africa, here are five reasons why you need to visit Madikwe Game Reserve.
Excellent year-round game viewing
Madikwe Game Reserve has risen from the ashes into one of South Africa’s most popular wildlife destinations. All of the Big 5 can be seen in Madikwe, with the reserve boasting large numbers of elephant, second only to Kruger. Lions are regularly seen and leopard, although difficult to find, are tracked by the guides. Black and white rhino are present and buffalo herds are a regular feature on a game drive.
World class guide and tracker teams
Our expert team of guides and trackers are some of the finest in South Africa. Headed up by Ernst Van Gruning and Assistant Head Guide, Trevor Robinson, our guiding team will reveal the big and small creatures of Madikwe, as well as their passion for the outdoors. We are proud to have a highly knowledgeable and experienced team of guides at Madikwe Hills – all of which you can see here.
Luxury Accommodation options
Madikwe Hills boasts 10 uber-luxurious suites which feature a cosy living room, four-posted draped beds and cathedral-like bathrooms. Each suite opens up to the surrounding bush with floor-to-ceiling windows onto a spacious deck with a plunge pool surrounded by sunbeds and an outdoor. There is absolute privacy here, making it perfect for couples and honeymooners.
Consistent predator sightings
Leopard occur naturally in the area at high densities and although difficult to spot, they are regularly tracked by our guiding teams. Cheetah have had their numbers supplemented in Madikwe Game Reserve. Lions were reintroduced in small numbers from Etosha Game Reserve in Namibia and resident prides are frequently seen on game drives. Read more about Madikwe’s conservation success here.
