Afternoon at the watering hole

Sometimes you just need to stay put and see what aproaches you!

Approaching the pan, we could see the heads of a couple of Giraffe close to the water. They were staring quite intently at something on the other side of the water. As we got closer we saw a white rhino moving away from the water.

The giraffes later came to the water to have a drink, still content on focusing their attention on what captured it before.

Just after the giraffes departed, a troop of baboons came to quench their thirst after which they hastily retreated back to the thickets.

While we watched the baboons disappearing into the brush, two elephant bulls came walking up to the water from the west. The bush erupted into life, with eight lions leaping up in front of the colossal beasts!

After spending almost the entire afternoon at the watering hole, we stopped for a drink and headed off to the lodge.
